Back to Basics

Post on December 5, 2016 by

Let’s face it, we all have a moan now and again about management. But what is actually happening when people start complaining about the lack of management as well as the generally low quality of senior management? All around me there are colleagues, friends and acquaintances who say that they are not being managed any more, that managers are paralysed by the fear of taking a decision, and if and when they do, they are not capable of communicating it both simply and clearly and have no concept of change management apart from rushing through critical changes with no careful planning and no awareness of consequences.

Endless meetings are held around the holy corporate grail comprised of vision and strategy, customer satisfaction, KPIs, scrums and agility. But you can’t achieve optimal levels of performance – for the corporation and for the employee – if people are not managed effectively, not listened to and no retention policy is implemented.

Is it not time to get back to basics so that we can talk business…?
